Buell LightningCityX-XB9SX

2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB9SX Motorcycle

The Buell Lightning® CityX is an urban streetfighter designed to handle whatever the big city throws your way.

The quick-revving Buell® Thunderstorm® 984cc V-Twin engine offers broad power to pull through traffic, while an upright rider position, wide Supermoto-style handlebars and intuitive handling help the CityX scat around potholes and dodge through back alleys.

Buell Lightning models and the new 1125CR™ are at the core of what Buell is all about – pure performance with a broad, seamless power delivery in a stripped down, raw and aggressive package.

Each Buell model is designed utilizing the Buell Trilogy of Technology™ – chassis rigidity, centralized mass, and low unsprung weight – to produce a motorcycle which responds instantly to rider input.

With its 52-inch wheelbase, the Lightning® CityX  handles with surgical precision. The rigid chassis keeps you stable and confident through the turns, while the 21-degree rake and 3.3-inch trail improves agility.

The Zero Torsional Load (ZTL™) braking system consists of a 375 mm rotor mounted to the wheel’s perimeter and a 6-piston caliper. When applied, it transfers braking forces directly to the rim instead of through the spokes. Without the need for load-bearing spokes or even a second disc, the bike’s front-end weighs about 6 pounds lighter than what you’d find on most dual disc set-ups.

The fully adjustable 43 mm Showa® inverted fork features a high-performance damping cartridge that lets you adjust the setup for any situation. Whether it’s at the track or the ride home, you can optimize the suspension for excellent feedback and razor-sharp handling.

Buell's 2010 1125CR Motorcycle

The Buell® riding experience embodies radical designs and intuitive performance that rewards uncompromising riders.

From the race track to the back road, a Buell® motorcycle will take any path necessary to put its rider out front because Buell believes a deep bond between rider and machine is the essence of motorcycling.

As a modern café racer, the Buell® 1125CR™ motorcycle is powered by a 146-hp, liquid-cooled Helicon® 1125 V-Twin engine with Buell Intuitive Response Chassis (IRC), new upright tapered aluminium streetfighter handlebar, and new graphics to deliver top sportbike handling in style. Final-drive gearing optimises acceleration and performance, along with new water pump bearing, front brake piston seals and rear wheel bearings and axle. The 1125CR will be available in Arctic White, Midnight Black or new Racing Red bodywork.

The 2010 Buell 1125CR

21st Century Cafe Racer Part sportbike and part streetfighter, the 1125CR™ combines class-leading performance with sinister styling in Erik Buell´s vision of a modern-day cafe racer. Buell forgot to detune this animal – it offers the same power, precision and agility of its 1125R brother.

The 2010 Buell 1125RR American Superbike

The RR model has a modified Helicon 1125cc V-Twin engine, and according to the Wisconsin based company has a significant power increase from the 1125R which includes a larger airbox and intake manifold, revised valves and camshafts, a higher compression ratio, titanium exhaust system and other weight-reduced components. The bike is fitted with race-spec Showa suspension, a cast-aluminum swingarm with billet axle adjusters and eight-piston Nissin front calipers

The Buell 1125RR American Superbike

The 1125RR motorcycle is designed to give privateer racers a turn-key machine to compete in the American Superbike class in AMA Pro Racing,” said Buell, the Chairman and Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company.

“We want to build on our program that has proven so successful for privateers in the Daytona SportBike class.

The Buell 1125RR uses some race components already used on 1125R that has taken victories in the Daytona SportBike class, such as a billet axle-adjustment system for the aluminum swingarm that incorporates chain drive for simpler gearing changes.

In the axle’s center position, the double-R has a 55.5-inch wheelbase, up nearly an inch from the streetbike’s 54.6 inches. The chassis itself is unchanged from the standard 1125R’s twin-beam aluminum frame that doubles as the bike’s fuel tank.

The 1125RR chassis is the standard 1125R design with fuel-in-the-frame, plus a billet axle adjustment system and chain-drive to allow gearing changes. Suspension travel is managed by fully adjustable units, with a Showa 43mm front fork and a remote-reservoir rear shock. A ZTL2 (Zero Torsional Load) eight-piston front caliper is mated with a modified front rotor.

Suspension is from Showa, like the 1125R streetbike, but the 1125RR gets Showa’s new Big Piston Fork with race-kit internals and an upgraded remote-reservoir race shock. Braking is via Buell’s ZTL2 (Zero Torsional Load) system that uses a single perimeter-mounted rotor (modified for race use) and the massive eight-piston front caliper. The use of lightweight magnesium wheels improves suspension performance and handling but adds a big chunk o’ change to the RR’s spendy $39,995 list price.

Orders must be placed through the Buell Race Department and delivered through an authorized Buell motorcycle dealer. For more info and a complete specs list check out www.buell.com

Even though this looks like a regular 1125R, it’s actually the race-spec 1125RR, which isn’t street-legal, costs $40,000 and will only be sold to AMA racers!

said Erik Buell, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer, Buell Motorcycle Company.

2010 Buell Lightning XB12Scg

With a lower seat and lowered suspension, this nasty brawler takes the streetfighter motorcycles to a whole new level while the  performance is reaching to new heights. With a low center of gravity and the raw, minimalist styling that separates the Lightning lineup from the pack – the Lightning® XB12Scg puts you as close to the road as you’ll ever want to be.

2010 Buell XB12Scg 1024x682 2010 Buell Lightning XB12Scg

Buell XB 12-Scg

The buell Lightning has an Air/oil/fan-cooled 1203cc Thunderstorm® V-Twin that has enough Horsepower and Torque to be called Lightning! The Peformance of this nasty machine with Horsepower and Torque are: 103 HP / 84 ft. lbs, the Dry weight of this motorcycle is 395 lbs.

The frame of the Buell XB12Sc is made from Aluminum and has a five speed manual Transmission. The Thunderstorm engine’s unrelenting powerband pumps out 85% of the 1203cc engine’s 84 ft/lbs. of torque at just over 2500 RPM.

With all that grunt on tap, it’s easy to see why this motor is a favorite among riders, year in and year out. You get broad, smooth power and rock-solid dependability with hardly any maintenance at all.  With its 52-inch wheelbase, the Buell Lightning® XB12Scg handles with surgical precision.

The rigid chassis keeps you stable and confident through the turns, while the 21-degree rake and 3.3-inch trail improves agility. The fully adjustable 41 mm Showa® inverted fork features a high-performance damping cartridge that lets you adjust the setup for any situation.  Whether it’s at the track or the ride home, you can optimize the suspension for excellent feedback and razor-sharp handling.

Proven through multiple wins in AMA Pro Racing, the Buell Zero Torsional Load (ZTL-2™) front brake utilizes a 4-pad, 8-piston caliper and single 375 mm rotor. The caliper casting was optimized for clamp stiffness, yielding a more progressive and connected braking feel to the rider. New for 2010, the flycut ZTL-2™ logo adds a trick look to the caliper. The rim-mounted design eliminates the need for load-bearing spokes or even a second disc, resulting in a front-end assembly that is significantly lighter than competitive designs.

Exhaust cans are heavy and hot. It doesn’t make sense to hang them up high and off the back of the bike and close to the rider. There underslung exhaust – a Buell staple since 1985 – concentrates the weight underneath the chassis to provide greater Mass Centralization. The result is a clean, uncluttered look, improved flickability and superior handling. It also features a large-volume muffler tuned to produce a linear horsepower and torque curve.
