Ducati: 2011 Ducati Monster 696 Motorcycle

Ducati Naked essentiality

When you choose to ride the Monster, you are not just choosing a bike, but an entire lifestyle. A desire to experience the exhilaration of naked power from an iconic motorcycle.

2011 Ducati Monster 696 Red Ducati: 2011 Ducati Monster 696 MotorcycleDucati Monster 696 Features:

APTC Clutch

The APTC ‘wet’ clutch gives a ‘slipper’ type action that prevents destabilizing of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting and also gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the lever, a great benefit in stop-start city traffic or during longer journeys.

The 21-plate oil-bath clutch (11 friction and 10 steel) represents a power-enhancing weight reduction over the ‘dry’ system as well as having a quieter operation and requiring less maintenance.

Lightweight Crankcases

The new crankcases hug the gearbox internals much closer to create a smaller and more compact outer profile and achieve considerable weight savings over previous cases.

Power & torque curves: The Monster 696 produces 80hp (58,8kW) @ 9,000rpm and 50,6lb-ft (7,0kgm) of torque @ 7,750rpm

Desmodue

The engine of the Monster 696 is the legendary Desmodue, 696cc, air cooled, Dual Spark L-Twin engine whose 80hp gives it that unmistakable Ducati sound. Developed for an incredibly flexible power delivery, the 696 Desmodromic engine provides enough torque to exit the most challenging of corners. The impressive torque, typical of the Ducati L-Twin engines, will excite with every twist of the throttle.

exhaust system

Providing a deep and rich exhaust tone within current noise and emissions regulations is no mean feat, but the Monster 696 definitely provides the L-Twin sound famous of Ducati. Its bold, high-level twin mufflers also make a striking style statement.

The exhaust system on the 696 has one Lambda probe dedicated to each cylinder, enabling precise fuelling for a smoother power delivery as well as complying with current emission regulations.

The 2011 Ducati 1198 SP Motorcycle

2011 Ducati 1198 SP Motorcycle

From experience gained on circuits all over the world comes the most exclusive, highest-ever performance 1198 SP ever: aluminium tank, Ducati Quick Shift, slipper clutch, rear Öhlins suspension with TTXR technology, 168 kg dry weight. The 1198 SP is all set for your next track challenge.

2011 Ducati 1198SP The 2011 Ducati 1198 SP Motorcycle

Engine Type L-Twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder Desmodromic, liquid cooled

Stunning ‘SP’ performance

The 168kg (370.3lb) (dry weight) 1198 SP creates a dream package by taking everything that the 1198 model has, including DTC, DDA and the new DQS systems, and adding top-of-the-range Öhlins suspension, lightweight chassis components, a lightweight factory team-style aluminium fuel tank and slipper clutch.

The high performance, fully adjustable 43mm Öhlins forks, which sport low friction titanium nitride-treated fork sliders, respond effortlessly to every imperfection in the tarmac.

Beyond their advanced engineering solutions, one of the most important characteristics of Öhlins forks is their ability to communicate the condition and quality of the tyre-to-road contact patch, a feature that puts every rider in superior control.

The suspension set-up at the rear is complemented with a fully adjustable Öhlins TTX rear shock equipped with a ride enhancing top-out spring and mounted to a single-sided swingarm for outstanding drive and traction.

The front-to-rear Öhlins package is completed with a control-enhancing adjustable steering damper.

On any sport or race bike, the most effective area to reduce weight is its ‘unsprung weight’. These are
components like tyres, brakes and wheels. Lighter wheels have a lower ‘moment of inertia’ that is
beneficial with every direction change and application of the brakes.

The 1198 SP addresses this important area by mounting 7-spoke Marchesini forged and machined wheels. Both front and rear are super lightweight and their benefit is immediately apparent. The weight saving is further enhanced with the application of a carbon fibre front fender.

Ride-by-Wire

Ducati: The Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system is an electronic interface between the twistgrip and the engine which decides the ideal power response depending on the riding mode selected and according to the rider’s throttle input.

2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Sport 2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Sport Motorcycle

Optional Bosch-Brembo ABS braking system

The twistgrip no longer has a throttle cable connected directly to the throttle body butterflies, but instead delivers a signal to a control unit, which in turn operates the butterfly opening.

The RbW system uses three different mappings to regulate the power delivery. The three maps offer 150hp with a sports-type delivery, 150hp with a progressive delivery suitable for touring and 100hp with progressive delivery for city or off-road use.

Ducati Traction Control

The racing-derived Ducati Traction Control (DTC) is a highly intelligent system which acts as a filter between the rider’s right hand and the rear tyre.

Within milliseconds, DTC is able to detect and then control rear wheel-spin, considerably increasing the bike’s active safety and performance.

The system offers eight ‘levels of sensitivity’, each programmed with a level of rear wheel-spin tolerance in line with progressive levels of riding skills classified from one to eight.

Level one is programmed to offer the least amount of interaction while level eight uses the most amount of interaction. DTC is an integral part of the pre-programmed riding modes on the Multistrada 1200.

The system uses front and rear wheel sensors to compare speed differential and sense when rear traction is being broken (wheel-spin). DTC then decides the best combination of two different types of instant electronic adjustment, calculated with data supplied from multiple sources.

The first ‘soft’ stage of system interaction is executed by high speed software that makes instant electronic adjustment to the ignition timing, administering varying amounts of ignition retardation to reduce the engine’s torque.

The 2011 Ducati Diavel Carbon Motorcycle

2011 Ducati Diavel Carbon

The Diavel Carbon is mostly the true nature of the Diavel concept, where performance combines with style to celebrate Italian engineering at its best.

The Front Action View

Lightweight composites and milled aluminium components meld the two worlds of sport and style with features that are both visually beautiful and functionally high-performance.

Hard to be seen, easy to be noticed.Even when disappearing in a split second, everyone will always be captivated. This is the magic of Diavel.

The design sets new standards in beauty, innovation and sophistication, while outstanding agility and handling are encased within a muscular body which moves with 162 hp.

Its astonishing power can be managed in three different Riding Modes and with the assurance of the Ducati Safety Pack (ABS + Ducati Traction Control). Ducati has created something truly magic.

2011 Ducati Diavel Carbon Features and Benefits

Concept: The Diavel project was born when Ducati designers applied their wish-list of bike “basic instincts” to a blank canvas. With a “what if ?” approach to creating a dream bike, they sketched inspiring shapes which became a lower and longer motorcycle.

“The challenge of building a muscular silhouette over a pure-bred competition motor had to be met with determination and a delicate touch, and the result is a frontal area that looks like a power athlete on the starting blocks,” explains the team at Ducati Design responsible for the project.

“With the front wheel kept close to the Diavel’s body and using the short tail of a sport bike, we were able to blend this muscular design with a chassis that matched.”

Design: The stance of the Diavel is that of readiness, dominance, and confidence bordering on superiority. With lateral radiators adding muscle to its broad “shoulders,” which then taper down across the engine and into the belly-fairing with oil cooler, the athlete took shape.

The Diavel will be available in 2 versions

A massive 240 section rear tyre was a perfect example of how Diavel designers used a no-compromise attitude when applying their wish list of features.

The sheer width of rubber communicates so much power and style that the R&D team vowed to find a way to make it handle – even if they knew the image would send a seismic shock through the industry.

The Diavel is a true Ducati, born from a passion for motorcycling and designed to deliver authentic Ducati performance in every respect.

The new Diavel, cost GBP12,995/EUR16,800/US$16,995 for the base model, while the higher-spec Carbon model with Marchesini wheels will be GBP£15,495/EUR19,900/US$19,990, or GBP15,895/EUR21,100/US$21,290 for the Carbon Red with it’s more detailed paint scheme.

2011 Ducati Diavela Post Image UPDATE: New 2011 Ducati “Diavel” Official unveiling expected at EICMA

The new Ducati DIAVEL be extremely accurate in every detail

Ducati Press Release

2011 Duacti Diavel

Ducati to unveil the innovative new Diavel at the Milan showAfter months of speculation the long wait is almost over, the new Diavel will make its first public appearance at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan this coming November, 2-7.

Announcing the new model’s name ahead of the official presentation, the famous Italian manufacturer is about to turn another dream into reality.

This dream comes true via using the local Bolognese dialect for “devil” in naming their new model the Diavel – pronounced Dee-ah-vel.

The idea for the Diavel name was born early in the development process of the bike, when the prototype was assembled and wheeled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians for the first time.

One person looking from the rear of the bike saw its silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: “Ignurànt comm’ al diavel!” Meaning: “Evil, like the devil!”

From that moment on, Diavel became the nickname for the project. Ducati now makes the name official as it approaches the unveiling in Milan. Reminiscent of how the “Monster” was named 20 years ago, the Diavel is now destined to follow the same Bolognese tradition.

Ducati is proud to continue shaping the future of motorcycling while staying faithful to its Italian heritage.

Built to have a commanding presence, though lightweight and agile, the Diavel will take the man-motorcycle relationship to the next level in absolute comfort.

For fans of technology ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes will deliver a confidence-inspiring sophistication. Stunning looks, the Superbike-derived Testastretta 11° engine and 456lb of authentic Ducati performance will drive a comfortable sport lifestyle that could only be dreamt of until now.

Ducati: The 2011 848EVO middleweight Superbike

PRESS RELEASE

DUCATI ANNOUNCES THE 848EVO SUPERBIKE

New for 2011, the 848EVO is the year’s most significant middleweight sport bike

Cupertino, Calif. (20 July 2010) – Ducati proudly announces today the most powerful middleweight sport bike on the market; the 2011 Ducati 848EVO Superbike.

2011 Ducati 848 EVO 300x223 Ducati: The 2011 848EVO middleweight Superbike

The Ducati 848 EVO

The new Ducati 848EVO is the pinnacle of sport bike engineering, designed to be the leader in the middleweight class. Weighing only 369 pounds and propelled by 140 horsepower and 72 lb/ft of torque, it is the most powerful motorcycle in its category.

The 848EVO is based upon Ducati’s best ever selling middleweight Superbike- the 848. Along with the “EVO” designation comes a significant amount of upgrades based on AMA Pro Racing feedback and consumer demand.

At the heart of the 848EVO is the Testastretta Evoluzione engine, significantly redesigned for a higher power output. All new cylinder heads, pistons, throttle bodies and camshafts combine for a forceful output of 140hp @ 10,500rpm and 72.3 lb/ft of torque @9,750rpm. All of this significant engine performance is wrapped in new black cylinder cases.

In addition to the more powerful engine, the 848EVO’s chassis and braking systems have been upgraded. A cross-mounted steering damper has been added for greater control of the steering system, and the welcome addition of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires will ensure maximum grip while delivering every last horsepower to the asphalt.

The 848EVO receives a massive upgrade to the braking system in the form of Brembo Monobloc calipers. These single-piece calipers are machined from solid alloy and achieve a higher rigidity and resistance to distortion during extreme braking. The resulting increase in hydraulic efficiency not only delivers incredible braking power, but also provides an enhanced and precise ‘feel’ at the brake lever.

All this combines to form the most potent, powerful and lightweight middle class sport bike available; both for the road or race track usage. For 2011, a special “Dark” version will be available; which unlike “Dark” editions of Ducati’s past will be a truly black bike from front to rear, giving the motorcycle an aggressive look and attitude.

The Ducati 848EVO Superbike will be available in North American Ducati Dealerships at the end of August, 2010. Impressively, MSRP will remain unchanged from the 2010 848 it replaces: $12,995 for the “Dark” edition, and $13,995 for Ducati Red.

2010 Ducati 1198 R Corse Special Edition Motorcycle

Ducati 1198R Corse Special Edition 2010 Ducati 1198 R Corse Special Edition Motorcycle

The Ducati 1198R Racing Motorcycle

DUCATI 1198 R CORSE:

The ‘R’ is a race bike, pure and simple. Its competition specification and superior components together with advanced electronics and race-proven chassis technology deliver a level of performance that empowers with confidence and capability.

On the road, it distinguishes its rider as a connoisseur of high-performance motorcycles. On the track it instantly promotes the rider to a higher level of skill.

The road-going ‘R’ version is as close as it gets to Ducati’s factory race bike. The 1198 R is not a replica – it’s the real deal.

An incredible 180hp L-Twin Testastretta Evoluzione engine in a race-winning Trellis chassis set-up weighs in at 1kg (2.2lb) less than last year to become an unbelievably light 164kg (361.5lb) and is equipped with Ducati Corse’s World Championship-winning traction control system.

The Ducati 1198 R Corse Special Edition raises the bar and sets the world standard for sportbikes while turning the heads and racing the hearts of enthusiasts throughout the world.

The first centrally mounted injector feeds through a 4-hole nozzle while the second offset injector feeds through a 12-hole nozzle ensuring progressive and fluid power delivery throughout the rev-range. With this configuration the system has the capacity to provide much heavier fueling when used in competition.

To underline the 1198 R’s race intentions, titanium is used in the valves, connecting rods, and exhaust system to save weight and improve performance. Confirming the 1198 R’s race specification by minimising weight and increasing performance, the crankshaft connecting rods are made in titanium, achieving a 34% saving over the stock 1198 rods while reducing their reciprocating forces and improving crankshaft acceleration. The 1198 R engine represents the finest twin-cylinder technology in the world. It produces 180hp (132.4kW) @ 9,750rpm and 99.1lb-ft (13.7kgm) of brute torque @ 7,750rpm in standard mode and an astonishing 186hp when using the supplied race kit (intended strictly for track use only).

The incredible valve performances of our engines are only possible because of Ducati’s unique Desmodromic system, where valve closure is activated mechanically. At high rpm it would be almost impossible for the valve to follow the steep closure profile of the cam lobe if it were relying upon a normal valve spring. With the Desmo system, the valve is closed mechanically with the same accuracy as it is opened, enabling steep cam profiles and radical cam timings. This system is used on every single Ducati power unit including our world-beating Superbike and Desmosedici MotoGP engines.

The weight-saving cam covers in magnesium-alloy are evident by their gold colour.Unique to the ‘R’ version, the dry, multiplate ‘slipper’ clutch reduces the destabilising effect of aggressive downshifting and helps provide the fine control required when used under extreme track conditions.

The specification of this engine underlines its no-compromise race technology. To help contain the massive ‘R’ power output, the crankcases have been sand-cast produced, a process that improves the molecular quality of the casting, increasing strength while ensuring that intricate shapes are achieved with absolute accuracy.

Its race-developed fairing design ensures perfect integration with the cooling system by providing efficient flow through the advanced, large surface area coolant radiator, which is assisted by lightweight, high flow electric fan assemblies and oil coolers.
