Cross-country motorbiking is tough and extreme, Enduro riders need the fitness of a mountain goat and the bike control of a circus artist. As of 2012, all that is mud under the bridge. Curtains up for the new lightness!
The new KTM Freeride 350 delivers pure riding fun on short trips to the city centre and makes a great holiday companion that you can strap to the rear of a camper van.
With its forward-looking concept, the KTM Freeride 350 is an icon for a new off-roading dimension: extremely easy handling, a low seat-height, pronounced user-friendly ergonomics and a very low weight of under 100kg ensure that the rider stays on top of things even on the most difficult trails.
He can stay just as cool in rough terrain as on narrow single trails and wide gravel tracks.
The ideal power plant for this concept is KTM’s modern, 350cc DOHC 4-stroke engine, specially re-designed for the Freeride 350 to score in any situation with an easily controlled, torque-oriented power delivery.
Everything for lightness:
revolutionary frame concept The backbone of the Freeride 350 is a completely new composite frame made of top quality chrome-molybdenum steel and forged aluminium components.
It combines the sections of the front steel frame with multi-functional aluminium profiles. A large amount of steering lock helps the rider gain confidence quickly, as great an advantage in thick city traffic as in tough terrain. The high-tensile polymer rear subframe is connected to the main frame by a secure triple link.
The suspension components of the Freeride 350 have been specially designed for this bike and are top quality, as befitting a genuine KTM. New, 43mm WP USD front forks ensure excellent response and damping, while their top-drawer, CNC-machined triple clamps guarantee outstanding stability.
KTM: The new 250 XC-W is a fast 2-stroker with a new cylinder and exhaust system which delivers more power through the complete rpm range.
Combined with the new 6-speed gear box and electric starter in serial production, this bike is an extremely sharp weapon and can stand every competition, the harder the better.
The choice between different ignition mappings and exhaust control characteristics to adjust the power delivery to the riders needs are KTM standard as well.
KTM’s complete line of 2011 off-road models, including MX, should be at the dealers by the end of June.

About KTM
KTM founded in 1953, is the second largest European motorcycle manufacturer specializing in ‘Ready to Race’ street and off-road motorcycles and ATVs. Proven success in worldwide competition is embodied into the design and function of each KTM motorcycle. KTM has built a reputation for high-quality premium race ready machines suitable for street and off-road race competition and recreation. With more than 180 World Championships and counting the technology, design and performance of KTM continues to race past the competition.
The smallest KTM four-stroke mercilessly shows what it’s made of. The latest four-valve technology gives the 250 EXC-F massive thrust from the bottom of the range up into the highest speed ranges.
An extremely agile, light-weight muscleman that is a great success in the small class – not only in the world championships.
The perfect motorcycle for everyone who attaches particular importance to riding their motorbike themselves rather than being driven by their motorbike.
The 250 EXC-F is an extremely agile and lightweight enduro bike. With controllably accessible power at engine speeds of up to 13,000 rpm, something that no one would have believed possible for a four-stroke quarter-litre a few years ago.
Trendsetting overall concept in a very compact design with electric starter as standard. The heart of the 250 EXC-F is a high-tech power unit with stacks of technical innovations and performance unrivalled in this class. Those inclined to underestimate quarter-litre machines should be forewarned – no other engine has won the E1 World Championship title more often.
Engine
The SIX-DAYS models draw their power from two-stroke and four-stroke racing engines which have been optimised down to the finest detail for Enduro racing. Powerful, with perfect power delivery and excellent durability. Pure energy!
Tank
Ergonomic tank for ideal contact with the bike. Special KTM airflow system with ducts beneath the spoilers for an optimum fresh air supply to the airbox. Another advantage for racing: transparent polyethylene lets you see the fuel level from the outside.
In 2006, Stefan Everts was reigning world champion (with a mere 14 victories in 15 Grand Prix) and then he became KTM Race Director.
Back then, he could already see where the future of motocross was heading and in KTM he found an ideal partner for his vision: efficient and maximum practicable performance from smaller displacements in an overall package that’s tailored unconditionally to the requirements of the rider.
4 years or so later, it’s ready: the new 350 SX-F. With a new engine, fuel injection system and smaller displacement, new bodywork, new chassis – in fact, a whole new concept.
What with the first Grand Prix victory and racing to the top of the overall standings in the MX1 class after only two races, maybe even the beginning of a new era in motocross …
Just to make it completely clear: When developing the new SX bikes, it wasn’t a case of making a special bike for a specific rider or a particular track.
It’s all about a unique bike for every track and every motocross rider. From works team professionals to motocross enthusiasts with no professional ambitions.
Whoever claims that’s impossible just hasn’t tried hard enough. Because efficient power development and playful handling are not a question of taste.
You have to give a revolutionary new development some time. Or so they say. We maintain the opposite: If you do your job properly, then you take your time beforehand. And only push the bike to the starting gate when it is ready.
The new KTM SX bikes took 6 out of 6 possible race wins at the opening round of this season’s World Championships. (The brand new 350 SX-F appears to have been not quite “ready” yet. It only finished second in the first Grand Prix of the new season. But then it won the next. And the next. And the …).
After 3 World Championship weekends: 9 race wins, 140 laps in the lead and the top places in the overall standings in MX1 and MX2 for riders and manufacturers. Whatever the current season still has in store, it is hard to imagine more convincing proof of the new KTM bikes’ ability to win.
The first thing you notice on all 2011 SX-F and SX models is the completely newly developed bodywork with its super-slim spoiler line. Or the numerous, practical, detailed solutions, such as the grip recesses, protected from dirt and heat, integrated into the rear fender. When you sit on the bike for the first time, you are struck by the perfect knee contact in the area of the fuel tank, airbox and lateral frame tube. What you experience on the first test lap is a whole new dimension …
KTM: The 250 SX-F is nearly a guarantee for top positions in hard fought Motocross-events. That is proven by numerous top places at MX2 World Championship.
Already known for its strong performance, the new generation presents itself with a further developed, stronger engine including fuel injection and the option to include an electric start with small effort.
The new 250 SX-F will remain a winning bike that will be hard to follow for the competitors.
The new SX generation contains the concentrated know-how of a highly modern Development department combined with the knowledge of a racing department which has been very successful for many years and led by 10 time world champion Stefan Everts.
Since the beginning of development of the 350 SX-F, Stefan was at the leading edge and stamped his baby from the very first sketch until the final serial settings.
His ambitious aim was, to lift the motocross topic to a new, previously un-reached level with the 350 SX-F and therefore build the ultimate winning bike for the motocross future.
Through the cooperation of Stefan Everts and KTM, a new milestone in motorcycle development has been set.
The lightweight 350 SX-F with extremely compact DOHC engine makes the perfect weapon for every motocross use. Performance close to the 450cc motocrosser means no loss at starts or during acceleration, handling that is close to the 250cc bikes due to compact measurements and low gyroscopic masses.
With this combination of powerful power delivery and playful handling the rider benefits more, the longer a race goes on – no matter if professional or beginner. Additional ingredients like electric start and electronic fuel injection make the 350 SX-F the ultimate contender at MX1 class.
KTM has experience in building sport motorcycles for more than 55 years.
This shows the highest level of experience in developing race bikes. 170 world championship titles prove this.

KTM North America, Inc is excited to announce two new models to its 2011 off-road model line up: 250 XC-F and the 350 XC-F.
The KTM 350XC-F gets a six speed gearbox instead of the 350SX-F's five-speed transmission.
KTM celebrated the release of the new off-road models with a proper introduction at Cahuilla Creek MX Park last Friday in front of KTM fans and press.
The bikes were introduced to the public by the Factory FMF/KTM GNCC Team of Kailub Russell, Cory Buttrick and Charlie Mullins. All three riders will be racing the 350 XC-F in the 2011 GNCC Series.
The new 2011 XC-F’s are based on the 250 and 350 SX-F models built with specific components and settings for cross-country racing.
They feature the most current generation SX-F style frames including linkage rear suspension and the most current generation SX-F engine including EFI and electric start.
Both models have a 6-speed transmission, an 18” rear wheel, open hand guards and a side stand. Both models will also receive the larger 2.51 gallon off-road tank compared to the 1.98 gallon tank on the SX-F models.
These exciting new models will be available at a KTM dealer near you in January 2011.

2011 KTM SX Chassis and Frame – Completely new frames, made of modern lightweight chrome-moly steel material in various profiles.
Compared to KTM’s previous SX frames the MY 2011 frame design provides higher torsional and reduced longitudinal stiffness.
Air flow optimized intake boot between filter and carburetor
In addition it is designed to absorb energy created from the rear wheel impacts.
This new design benefits both the PDS of the new 2-strokes and Pro-Lever Linkage rear suspension of the 4-strokes.
The basic frame designs are pretty much the same. The main difference between PDS and linkage is the tower of the upper shock mount, which for both systems, takes the main role to isolate the shock absorber forces from the frame.
To the aluminium frame trend of our competitors, we have delivered a high-tech steel frame that weighs less than the lightest competitor.
In addition it is easier to maintain, easier to work on and supplies more space for the tank and other components.
Rear Suspension – KTM has proven that the PDS rear suspension system is capable of wining any motocross race. But when it comes to Supercross the PDS becomes more critical in regards to bike set-up. The linkage provides a better solution to the increased loading demands that extreme Supercross requires and covers a wider range of circuits.
Both systems have a certain rising rate, which means that when the rear wheel moves at a constant rate, the rate of the shock shaft increases, or in other terms, if the rear wheel travels at a constant velocity, the shock shaft is accelerating. The difference between the two systems is with PDS the shaft velocity does not increase as much as with linkage.
